Rose's Outfit of the Week~Feeling Fall-ish

Fall is alllllllmost here!!!
Yes...this means it's back to school, daylight hours are shorter, and all the leaves will find a new home on the ground...But also there is the wonderful crisp fall-feeling in the air, and I can't help but feel excited. It's just hard to compare to the scrumptious food, fashion, and color palette of fall!

My brown paisley print cotton dress had the perfect colors in it for fall, but the spaghetti strapped top just didn't suit the autumn atmosphere...So I added a cream cardigan and belt over it! Much better :)

DIY Nails~Patriotic Polka Dots

Happy 4th!!! Red with white polka dots is perfect for Independence day, and very easy to do! What I used: N.Y.C. Big Apple Red, Sally Hansen Snow Blast, and a ball-point pen.

I started with a coat red nail polish. I let dry for 15 minutes or so. Next, I used white nail polish and just a regular ball-point pen to apply it. It's actually crackle polish...But it made smooth dots. The ball-point pen makes the perfect sized dots in my opinion. Just brush the polish onto the pen point until it's well-covered but not dripping. I used the polka dot pattern from my scarf as a guide. My dots were thick, so you could feel their texture on my nails. To seal it in and make a smoother finish, be sure to put a clear coat on top!

Have a wonderful day celebrating our hard-won freedom, shoot some fireworks, and put some polka dots on your nails!

Cait's Outfit of the Week - An Entirely Thrifted Outfit + UPDATE!

Hey everyone! I'm back! I took a small hiatus for a bit, my life has been super busy. I'll tell you more about that in a moment. I'll go ahead and show you my outfit first, then if you like you can stick around and let me tell you about my life lately.

I'm very proud of this outfit. It's entirely thrifted! To clarify, I consider all types of second-hand bought clothes "thrifted." Plato's Closet, Consignment sales, Thrift stores, they're all "thrifting" in my book!

Mint Lace Top: Plato's Closet ($6)
Polka-Dot Capris: Thrift Store ($1)
Sandals: Consignment Sale ($6)
Flower Belt: Plato's Closet ($5)
White Cami: Consignment Sale ($4)
Bracelet: DIY

For all interested, here's what I've been up to during my hiatus.

May was intense for me, guys. Prom, marching band parade, graduation (which I did not participate in, of course), choir concert, band concert, a slew of graduation parties I had to attend, then finally the highly anticipated, band banquet.

To start off, prom was excellent. To the people who don't know, I am homeschooled. I know what you're thinking. "Homeschooled? Where do you have prom, your living room?" And then this is the part when all the homeschoolers laugh and say,  "actually, no." Prom is just as big a deal (if not bigger) for homeschoolers as it is for kids who go to school. It's something we look forward to all year. Here's me in my dress. (Thrifted dress, of course!)
Me and my lovely GRADUATING cousin!
Next, (the next day actually) the band kids went to march in a parade. It was all going swimmingly at first (no pun intended, you'll understand in a moment), I mean sure, there was a rain in the forecast but a little drizzle never hurt anyone, right? Nope. It was pouring buckets. A second flood, if you will. Luckily, our band director came prepared and had ponchos ready, so no woodwinds were harmed in this parade. The sad part of it was that our (awesome) uniforms would have gotten ruined if we had worn them in the rain. So we looked like a group of Fire-Mario/Fire-Luigi's from the original NES Super Mario Bros.

Also, one of the songs we were marching was Bob-Omb Battlefield from Super Mario 64.

The choir concert went excellent. My first semester to actually be in a choir, and I have to say, I love it. I definitely have a lot to learn about voice/singing, but I'm excited to learn it.

Then at the end of of May, I went to my first Band Banquet. It was a lot of fun. We hung out, reflected on the last year, awards were given, and we finished out our night with our officially-unofficial band games, Spoons (if you've never played spoons, you need to change that. Literally go. Right now. Get several people and play spoons. You will not regret it.).

Anyway, that's been my life lately! I hope your spring has been as awesome as mine and I'll see you around!

Rose's Outfit of the Week-A bit of spring!

Hello!
I emerge from the dreary life of school finally able to enjoy this beautiful spring! Hope you all are able to do the same! To commemorate, today I wore a peach button down and green skinny jeans with a scarf belt and a necklace I put together. If you ever need a little bit more of a statement accessory...try clasping a couple of necklaces together, tie with a ribbon and add a flower clip or broach!

I combined a gold color necklace, a pink pearl necklace, peach ribbon, and a gold rose broach from my grandmother. ~Rose

Green skinny jeans: Macy's Juniors {$20}

Caitlin's Outfit of the Week #11

Hey everyone! Wow. It's been a very busy week over here. Just the time of the year, I guess. Everything seems to "graduate" at this time of the year. Seriously, think about it. All the plants and flowers "graduate" out of their wintry state. School being over, all the kids "graduate" out of school into the next grade. Not to mention high school/college graduation for some, they "graduate" into adulthood. Or maybe that was just a really bad analogy. But who's to say? Anyway, without further ado, here's my outfit this week.

 Purple Henley: Old Navy ($8)
 Skinny Jeans: Old Navy ($15)
Gray Flats: American Eagle - bought on consignment ($5)
 Scarf: Thrift Store: ($1)
 Bracelets: DIY

Have an awesome week!
